Let Our Light Shine Through The Fruit Of The Spirit Hanukkah Devotions
Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”
Our lives are a message to everyone we come in contact with. We are to let our light shine everywhere we go. In life people listen more to what we do than what we say.
Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Through you others will see Jesus. You will either brighten their world or you will darken it by your behavior, your thoughts, your words, and your actions. You have an effect on those around you. You can let your light shine through love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Servant Candle
The center candle on the menorah is called the servant candle. It represents Jesus. He humbled Himself and left His place in glory to come to this world and live a life of servant hood and love. Love is an essential part of God’s nature. God loves us in spite of our wrongdoings. He loved us so much He gave His Son as the ultimate sacrifice in order to save us from our sins.
Romans 5:8 NKJV “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
To love others is to value them very highly and to desire God’s very best for them. One definition of love is an intense feeling of tender affection and compassion. God truly is filled with a deep feeling of tender affection and compassion for us. We can love others with God’s type of love when we receive Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior.
1 John 4:7-11 NKJV “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”
