Don’t Allow The World To Influence You

Memory Verse:  1 John 2:15

Life Application: We must not fall in love with the things of this world.

Bible Text:

1 John 5:19

1 John 2:15-17

 

Although the entire world is under the influence (sway) of Satan, the evil one, it does not mean that you have no choice in being persuaded by him.

Influence: the effect on something, power to sway, the power that somebody has to affect other people’s thinking or actions, somebody who can sway another, or somebody or something able to affect the course of events or somebody’s thinking or action.

Persuade: get somebody to do something,  to succeed in convincing somebody to do something, convince somebody of something,  or to make somebody believe something.

          The Bible tells us that the world is under the influence of Satan. We must be careful that we don’t allow him to persuade us to turn away from God, or to do things that goes against His Word.

 

1 John 5:19  NKJV     “We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one“.

     If a person falls in love with this world or the things that this world has to offer, such as riches and fame, they will fall under the influence of the world and Satan. The world will have the power to effect them.

 

    1 John 2:15-17  NKJV     “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”

                The more time you spend with God , and get to know Him, the more you will fall in love with Him. As a person falls more and more in love with God, the world has less and less to offer them.
