God’s Garden

God wants us to bear fruit in His garden. The goodness or sweetness of our fruit will depend on how much time we spend with God – in prayer and in His Word.

John 15:1-6 NKJV

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.”

We must abide in Christ if we desire to bear fruit. The Bible tells us that the righteous will flourish.

Psalm 92:12-15 NKJV

“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God.
They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing,
To declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.”

We are known by our fruit and our fruit will be judged.

Matthew 7:15-20 NKJV

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”

Fruit

God wants the fruit of our love toward Him.

We are to love the Lord with everything within us.

Deuteronomy 6:5 NKJV

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”

Deuteronomy 11:1 NKJV

“Therefore you shall love the Lord your God, and keep His charge, His statutes, His judgments, and His commandments always.”

God wants the fruit of obedience in our lives.

Obedience is important to God. He tells us in His Word that obeying is better than sacrifices.

1 Samuel 15:22 NKJV

“So Samuel said:

“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,

As in obeying the voice of the Lord?

Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice”

Jesus tells us that if we really love Him we will obey His words.

John 14:15 NKJV

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

God wants the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.

Believers should have spiritual fruit in their lives.

Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”

God wants the fruit of reproduction in our lives.

God wants us to win souls for Christ. As a Christian we should “produce” other Christians.

Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age”

We are instructed to go into all the world and make other disciples (followers of Christ), and we are to teach them to obey God’s commands, laws and words.

God wants the fruit of good works and deeds in our lives.

Works and deeds do not save us, however our works and deeds will show what we believe.

Ephesians 2:10 NKJV

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
