James 1:22-25 NKJV “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”
Romans 2:13 NKJV “for not the hears of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified”
We are not to study the Word of God just for the sake of acquiring more knowledge. We are to mature and be doers of the Word not just hearers. Growing (mature) in our faith is not an option. God does not want us to stay “babies” forever. Every aspect of our lives should experience growth.
1 Peter 2:1-3 NKJV “Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”
