Review and Reflections

1. Read Exodus 34:1-28. These verses describe the second set of the tablets with the ten commandments on them. What happened to the first set?

As the Lord passed before Moses, He proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, ______________________, and abounding in goodness and __________, keeping mercy for thousands, _____________ iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”

Moses was instructed not to make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where they were going. Why?

What is a snare?

Why must we be careful today when making a covenant (a solemn agreement that is binding on all parties) with others?

God wrote on the tablets the first time with His finger, however the second time _________ had to write the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

2. Read Exodus 34:29-35. When Moses went to camp, the people were afraid to go near him because his face was doing what?

After Moses spoke to the people he put a __________ on his face.

3. Read Exodus 35:1-3. What was the penalty for breaking the Sabbath day’s rest?

4. Read Exodus 35:4-9. The offerings that the people were to give God were to be given from a willing heart. How does that apply to our lives today?

5. Read Matthew 27:15-3.  When asked by Pilate who they wanted released from prison, Barabbas or Jesus, what was their response?

What did the people want done with Jesus?

Pilate had scourged Jesus then he delivered Him to be crucified. What does scourged mean?

After Jesus was scourged the soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around Him.

They …

* stripped Him and put a _____________ robe on Him.
* twisted a ___________ of thorns and put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand.

* bowed the knee before Him and __________ Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
* spat on Him, and took the reed and ___________ Him on the head.

When the soldiers finished mocking Jesus, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified. What does mock mean?

6. Read Proverbs 9:1-6. We should forsake _____________________.

What does forsake mean?

We should walk in _________________.

Dear Father,

Thank-you for Your Word and all Your promises. Your Word tells us that blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. By the power of the Holy Spirit, cause us to truly make You the Lord of our lives. When You look upon us may You see a people whose hearts are turned toward You. Speak to our hearts and change our lives. It is You in whom we place our trust. Fill our nation with reverence and respect for You, O Lord. We rejoice in You, for You fill us with hope, shower us with mercy, and deliver us from our enemies. You are our help and our shield.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
