Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Keep Your Eyes On Jesus

WHILE RUNNING YOUR RACEKeep Your Eyes On Jesus

Memory Verse: Hebrews 12:3

Life Application: We must keep our eyes on Jesus.

Bible Text: Hebrews 12:1-3

Each one of us is in a race, but we are not racing against each other. One definition of the word race is “a contest to decide who is the fastest.”  However, another definition is a “journey or the course that somebody’s life follows.”

Hebrews 12:1-3  NKJV
“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.”

On our journey we must forsake our sins, not quit, keep your eyes on Jesus, and remember what Jesus has done for us personally.

Consider means to reflect on something or to think carefully about something. As we consider what Jesus endured for us it will help us to lay aside every weight and run our race with endurance.

1. “…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin …”

We must forsake (give up) our sins.

2. “…let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…”

We must not give up (quit).

3. “…looking unto Jesus…”

We must keep your eyes on Jesus, not the world or things around us.

4. “…consider Him …”

We must remember what Jesus has done for us personally.

The Bible is full of people whose lives testified to the faithfulness of God during the journey of their lives. During the course of their lives they learned and endured many things. We can learn things that will help us in our race by studying their lives.

While running your race …

God wants you to face your problems with courage.

Nothing that happens is ever out of God’s control.

Put your faith in Jesus and you will be saved.

You can have victory over sin through God’s power.

God will help you be a good leader.

God will help you be bold for Him.

Never give up praying because God hears and answers your prayers.

It’s important to have your heart right with God.

Take a stand for God and lead others in doing what is right.

Remember that God is holy and you should serve Him with a clean life.

God wants you to make the choice to obey Him.

Do not run from what God has called you to do.
