Life Application: Jesus has set us free from bondage.

Bible Text:

Psalms 51:1-2

Revelation 21:27

Philippians 4:3

Psalms 107:2

John 8:36

Galatians 3:13

Romans 3:24

Repentance

Repentance is turning from sin to God; changing your mind concerning sin, God, and yourself. It means to “turn back” to God. Repentance, Teshuvah in Hebrew, literally means “turning back” to God. Our prayer should be that of David.

Psalms 51:1-2 NKJV

“Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.”

Our desire should be to have our name written in the Book of Life.

Revelation 20:15 NKJV

“And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”

Revelation 21:27 NKJV

“But there by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”

Philippians 4:3 NKJV

“And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.”

Redemption Through Christ

Redemption is gaining back from another something that you have owned before. To buy back for the purpose of setting free from obligation, bondage, or danger. Redemption is salvation from sin, death, and the wrath of God by Christ’s sacrifice.

Psalms 107:2 NKJV

“Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy”

John 8:36 NKJV

“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”

Galatians 3:13 NKJV

“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.”).”

Romans 3:24 NKJV

“Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”

Following Esther’s Example – Becoming A Child Of God

following esther's example    Following Esther’s Example – Becoming A Child Of God

I. Realize That You Are In Danger

Esther was made aware of the fact that the Jews lives were in danger. A plot had been made to kill them.

Esther 4:7-8  NKJV

“And Mordecai told him all that had happened to him, and the sum of money that Haman had promised to pay into the king’s treasuries to destroy the Jews. He also gave him a copy of the written decree for their destruction, which was given at Shushan, that he might show it to Esther and explain it to her, and that he might command her to go in to the king to make supplication to him and plead before him for her people.”

Every person born is in danger of separation from God because of sin. Every person has sinned. Every person has an enemy that would love to see them thrown in the Lake of Fire (away from God’s presence.) You must realize and admit that you have sinned.

1 John 1:8  NKJV

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

Romans 3:23  NKJV

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

Romans 6:23  NKJV     “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

II. Know Who Can Save You.

Esther knew who could save her and her people. She knew that the king held the power to save them.

Esther 4:16  NKJV

“Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”

We must know who can save us. Jesus is the only way we can be saved. It is only through His blood that our sins are washed away.

John 14:6  NKJV

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Romans 10:9  NKJV

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Acts 16:31  NKJV

“So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

III. Go To The Person That Can Save You.

Esther went directly to the king to tell him about the plot to destroy the Jewish people. She did not send a message to him by someone else. She went personally to the king.

Esther knew her life would be put in danger by going to the king personally. At first Esther was not willing to do what she knew that she had to do. She did not go to the king. Then Esther realize that if she did not go to the king that she would be separated from His presence forever by death.

Esther 4:13  NKJV

“And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews.”

Many times we are like Esther. When the Holy Spirit tries to draw us to the King (God) for salvation, we think of excuses not to go. We are afraid of loosing our own life. But the truth is, if we don’t go to the King (God) for salvation we will be separated from His presence forever.

At Jesus’ death the veil in the temple was torn into, from the top to the bottom, by God.

Matthew 27:51  NKJV

“Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split”

Today you are to go directly to God (in prayer) to receive salvation through the blood of Jesus. There is no man, church, or religion that has the power, or authority, to save you. You can’t send word by someone else that you want salvation. Salvation is a personal thing. You must go directly to the King (God) yourself.

Hebrews 10:19-20  NKJV

“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh”

1 John 1:9  NKJV

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Becoming Part Of The Family Of God

Becoming Part Of The Family Of God

1. God loves everyone and wants us to become members of His family.

John 3:16  NKJV     “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

2. Sin separates us from God. Everyone has sinned and needs forgiveness. Sin is disobeying God in any way.

Romans 3:23 NKJV     “ for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

James 4:17  NKJV     “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

3. The punishment for sin is separation from God,  but Jesus took our punishment for sin by dying on the cross.

Romans 3:23 NKJV     “ for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

Romans 5:8  NKJV     “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

1 Peter 2:24  NKJV     “who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.”

4. Salvation is free, a gift; we cannot buy it. We simply ask forgiveness for our sins and receive the gift of salvation.

Romans 6:23  NKJV     “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

1 John 1:9  NKJV     “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

5. After we accept salvation through faith, we need to tell others that we have received Jesus as Savior.

Romans 10:9  NKJV     “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

6. We should grow as a new Christian through Bible reading, daily prayer, regular church attendance, and obeying God’s commands.

The Indescribable Gift

 The Indescribable Gift

2 Corinthians 9:15  NKJV

“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”

Jesus went to Jerusalem to the temple during the last winter of His life, during the Feast of Dedication. The Feast of Dedication is a celebration that centers around the restoration (cleansing) of the temple and a time of remembering the miracles that God has performed.

The Scriptures tell us that during the Feast of Dedication Jesus taught the people.

John 10:22-23  NKJV     “Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch.”

What was Jesus thinking about as He walked in the temple? As He looked at the lights burning on the menorah was He thinking about His own life? The light from the menorah lit up the entire room. While it was burning the room was not dark.

Jesus is the Light of the World. He came into this world that was dark with sin to bring us light.

Romans 6:23  NKJV     “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Sin brings death, eternal separation from God, but the gift that God gave us is eternal life. Through Jesus each of us can have that gift from God –  forgiveness of all of our sins.

God has given us a wonderful gift, but we have the power to accept it or reject it. It is up to each one of us to make our own decision – Will we accept the gift of salvation that God offers through Jesus or will we reject the offer?

2 Corinthians 9:15  NKJV     “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”

Can we truly say, “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” ?

Fruits Worthy of Repentance

  Luke 3:8  NKJV

“Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance…”

Your lifestyle will tell (show) if you have a personal relationship with God and Jesus or not. If you do not have a personal relationship with Jesus you are not saved and you will spend an eternity in hell. The choices YOU make while YOU are alive determine where You will  spend eternity.

Lifestyle : manner of living: the way of life characteristic of a particular person, group, or culture.

Manner: way something is done, way in which somebody behaves , social behavior, customs and practices

Luke 3:3 NKJV

“And he went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins”

These are NOT fruits of repentance…

profane language (profanity) or  behavior.

cussing

vulgar talk rude or obscene, particularly with regard to sex or bodily functions and behavior

language or behavior that shows disrespect for God

profane word or phrase that shows disrespect for God

coarse joking or jesting

Ephesians 5:1-13  NKJV
“Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.”

Where will you spend eternity? God has given each of us a choice- the choice is ours and ours alone to make.

Joshua 24: 14-15 NKJV

“Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord!  And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

God loves everyone and wants us to choose Him and become members of His family.

John 3:16 NKJV

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Sin separates us from God. Everyone has sinned and needs forgiveness. Sin is disobeying God in any way.

Romans 3:23 NKJV

“ for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

James 4:17 NKJV

“Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

The punishment for sin is separation from God. But through Jesus our relationship with God can be restored.

Romans 5:8 NKJV

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

1 Peter 2:24 NKJV

“who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.”

Salvation is free, a gift; we cannot buy it. We simply ask forgiveness for our sins and receive the gift of salvation.

Romans 6:23 NKJV

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Have you made your choice?

Romans 3:23

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

Acts 16:31

“Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved”

1 John 1:9

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins.”

The Miracle Of Salvation

“ ‘Come now, and let us reason together,’ Says the Lord, ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool’ ”      Isaiah 1:18 NKJV

God does not compromise with us concerning our sin and the seriousness of it. Because of His great love for us He is willing to forgive (pardon) us. Before we can be forgiven we must come to a realization that we have sinned against a holy God – that we have disregarded and broken His commandments. We must admit that we are at fault.

God is waiting, willing and able to forgive us of our sins. When we turn to Him in true repentance He will forgive us. The forgiveness that God offers us is made possible by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. When Jesus willingly laid down His life on the cross it made salvation available to every person that had ever lived and every person that would live.

All we have to do is repent of our sins. When we do we will experience the miracle of salvation.
